The Mordens clan in the 19th C
It was during the 19th C that the line which dated back
to 1685 grew into a clanbut on a tiny scale of course
compared to Scottish clans. There were 3 or 4 Brocket
households in Cambridgeshire 1800-24those of
William and
Ann HALL of Guilden Morden, and of their 3 children: John,
William and Elizabeth. Thereafter the sons of these 3 children
evolved into 12 households, spreading out
to nearby parishes, London and beyond, with 44 known sons
of their own. At the peak in the 1840s there were 6 Broket
households in Cambridgeshire. Towards the end of the 19th
C that number fell to 3 and through the 20th there were only
one or two at any one time.
