Richard's testament, written 29 Aug 1454, proved 6 Sep 1454 is transcribed below from a microfilm in London Guildhall Library ms M2/6e, f 27r. Probate was only 4 days after making his testament, when Richard was lying 'in extremis'.

2. Tricesimo secundo. Ego Ricardus Broket Ciuis et Fuller' London compos mentis ac in bona mea memoria existens

3. condo et dispono presens testamentum meum in hunc qui sequitur modum.  In primis lego et Recommendo animam

4. meam Deo omnipotenti Creatori et Saluatori meo beate que Marie Virgini matri eius gloriose et Omnibus sanctis

5. Corpus que meum ad sepiliendum in cimiterio ecclesie parochialis Sancti Martini Otwych London Item lego Willelmo

1. In the name of God Amen the twenty-ninth day of August the year of the Lord one thousand four hundred fifty-four  And the year of the reign of King Henry the sixth

2. the thirty-second I Richard Broket Citizen and Fuller of London being of sound mind and good memory


3. make and dispose my present testament in this wise following  Firstly I bequeath and recommend my soul to

4. God Almighty my Creator and Saviour and to the Blessed Virgin Mary his glorious mother and to all the saints

5. and my body to be buried in the churchyard of the parish church of St. Martin Outwych London  Item I bequeath to William

6. Broket my son my entire bed in which I now lie languishing in death with one latten pot, a pot

7. and a pan of brass and 1 red belt fitted out with silver belonging to my late wife Item I bequeath to my sister Agnes

8. the wife of Willim Dabbes one red kirtle (gown) and 1 green huke (hooded cloak) belonging to the same my late wife Item I bequeath to Edmund Dabbe

9. my apprentice one staff/candlestick and 1 brass pot and pan and 1 painted? hallyng? wishing also that the same Edmund the term

10. final of his future [lit. being about to come] apprenticeship will finish with Simon Pudney citizen and fuller of London Item I bequeath to Hugh Broket my uncle

11. one pan for frying 1 grate 1 pewter pot for wine 7 pewter plates And I bequeath to the Brotherhood

12. or company of the art of fullers of london my large brass pot. The rest however of my goods all and singular and

13. debts wherever existing after my debts have been fully paid and the completion of my burial and my present testament I give and

14. bequeath entirely to my executors named below to thereafter do, dispose and distribute for my soul as they shall hope best to

15. please God and perform for the salvation of my soul Of this, however, my said testament I make ordain and constitute the said Simon

16. Pudney and Thomas Holme citizen and skinner of London my executors to all and singular [the things] contained in this my present Testament

17. justly and faithfully they may execute In witness of which thing I put my seal to this present testament dated London

18. the day and year stated above. Probate of the present testament has and is made by us H.S. p. Doctor of Laws etc on the 2nd day

19. of the month of Sepember the year of the Lord one thousand 400 54  And [administration] was committed for the executors named above.
